Louise Was Fast Asleep

It was on one of these days that Stumpy and Louise were sunning and rolling in the sand on one of the roads adjacent to their pond. The two were completely at ease, and Louise was dozing off to sleep. Stumpy noticed it first, something very big was coming down the road. It wasn't a vehicle, though these contraptions were always interrupting their siestas. There were two of them, and they were huge, Stumpy alerted Louise, who was fast asleep. These creatures seemed as tall as trees, with their long legs and necks that stretched to the heavens, on the top of their heads were blood red caps. Louise tried to convince Stumpy that these were big birds, that meant no harm, but Stumpy was ready to fight these aggressors. Finally, Stumpy decided that discretion is the better part of valor, and he and Louise started down the road ahead of these huge creatures. The two large birds continued to follow the two frightened river otters down the road getting closer to them by the second.
